Solvay
Business School students distinguish
themselves by the initiatives they
take and the variety of extra-curricular
activities in which they engage. The
SBS makes a point of rewarding those
who, through their undertakings, contribute
to the national and international
renown of the school.
It is for this reason that, each year,
the School awards a number of prizes
to its current and former students
:
The de Barsy Prize
The annual de Barsy Prize, worth
€ 1,250, is awarded by SBS alumni for a final year Management Engineer
dissertation judged to be particularly
creative.
Special juries draw up a shortlist
of candidates for the prize, which
is then submitted to the President
of the School. The candidates are
then interviewed by the juries responsible
for allocating the prize and the results
proclaimed after the deliberation
following the June exams.
In addition to the de Barsy prize,
a number of other prizes are awarded
by various Belgian companies for outstanding
dissertations. Full details of the
awards and conditions for application
are available at the Degree Secretariat
The Marie-Christine
Adam Prize
Two prizes are awarded
on the occasion of the degree proclamation
:
- a prize of € 1,000 awarded
to a foreign student for his
or her academic contribution and
integration in the School;
- a prize of € 1,000 awarded
to a foreign student for his
or her academic contribution to
the School’s exchange programme.
The prizes are discerned by a Jury
comprising the Director and coordinators
of the International Programme, the
President of the School, the Director
of the Foundation (representing the
family) and any other member of the
academic staff that the School Office
judges appropriate to include. The
President of the Foundation presides
over the jury. The amounts awarded
are subject to variation.
