Developed in partnership
with the Bernheim Foundation, this
Chair has as its objective to study
and teach about entrepreneurship in
its broadest sense of business creation
and the development of a corporate
ethos, as well as to promote a spirit
of entrepreneurship amongst our graduates.
Two integral components to this Chair
are the reinforcement of the number
of lecturers and research assistants
and the Bernheim Prize, which rewards
sustainable businesses created by
young graduates from the Solvay Business
School (Master of Science in Management,
MBA, or Executive Education graduates)
or from the VUB.
The research themes of this Chair
are:
- The micro-economic dynamics of corporate
creation and development
- Corporate transmissions (MBO, MBI,
etc.)
- Family businesses (of considerable
importance in certain countries)
- The geographical, cultural and educational
importance of a corporate ethos
- The role of public authorities in
stimulating the development of corporate
spirit
The Bernheim Chair will develop in
partnership with the sections of the
School supervised by Professor Jean-Claude
Ettinger who, in the last few years,
has developed the IACE
and IADE
training programmes, which contribute
to the creation and development of
SMF.
Each year, the "Bernheim Conferences"
are also held under the auspices of
the Bernheim Chair. Speakers at these
conferences and seminars include the
founders of successful European corporations
and not-for-profit organisations,
as well as renowned visiting foreign
academics.
