Des ateliers thématiques (15 crédits) sont organisés dans chacun de ces six domaines: ils permettent aux étudiants de parfaire leur connaissance et d’individualiser leur formation : présentation de communications à des colloques, participation à des séminaires, cours doctoraux, summer schools, etc.
Certains ateliers thématiques débutent par un comprehensive exam : une épreuve devant jury portant sur la maîtrise de la littérature dans le domaine spécifique de la recherche doctorale.
