The Organizational Behaviour Research Topics PhD class is a highly interactive class that relies on very active participation from students. A big part of the class involves directly discussing your PhD in progress and working on making links to OB research topics.
This is why I make it a requirement to joint my class to submit a short description of your PhD topic (one page max) at the latest one week before the first class.
In this note you should describe:
- What is the title and subject of your thesis? Please give the title and a concise description of the phenomena that interest you.
- What OB topics (see list below) do you think are the most pertinent to your PhD work?
- Major topics include:
· individual characteristics such as beliefs, values, and personality
· individual processes such as perception, motivation, emotions, decision making, judgment, commitment and control
· group characteristics such as size, composition and structural properties;
· group processes such as decision making and leadership;
· organizational processes and practices such as goal setting, work design, appraisal, feedback, and rewards; and the influence of all of these on such individual, group, and organizational outcomes as performance, organizational citizenship behaviors, turnover, justice, absenteeism, stress, and deviance.
You can find a list of OB topics as defined by the Academy of Management OB division http://www.obweb.org/index.php
