Executive Programme in IT Sourcing

Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management delivers executive education in various areas related to IT Management. A one-year education programme covers both theory and practice in a variety of areas leading to an Executive Programme in IT Sourcing.

Academic requirements encompass 6 modules for a total of 144 hours via two evening classes, typically completed over the course of one year.

Tailor-made for IT sourcing professionals from the client or the supplier side, procurement and vendor managers, as well as account managers, this programme develops the skills necessary for IT management, including sourcing practices as well as activation management skills, IT financials and audit practices.

IT Sourcing skills require adequate control over building and implementing applications (lectured in module M1) as well as implementing and controlling services and operation delivery (lectured in module M2). Sourcing practices, vendor management and procurement methods (lectured in module M3) are essential elements of any current business operations.

Auditing and assessing sourcing practices involve regular diagnosis of related weaknesses and risks (lectured in module A3), and continuous decision and portfolio management, based on sound IT Financials (lectured in module A1). The soft skills workshop (lectured in module A2) is designed to bolster personal skills and sharpen the behaviour required to lead change and inspire people and stakeholders.

The body of knowledge is delivered through lectures, workshops, case discussions, group work and personal essays, as well as via the participant Intranet system containing electronic documents, shared links, and all presentation material. Cutting-edge knowledge is also disseminated by guest speakers (all experts in their chosen field), topic leaders, and peer participants.

Participants who successfully complete this Executive Programme are entitled to study for the Executive Master in IT Management, which requires an additional year to complete and is taught via two evening classes per week.

Lectured topics are grouped in six modules within the following tracks:

   

Jan-March

Principles of Application Management Practices, including Organization, architecture, development methods, governance, security, deployment and technical foundations.

Apr-June

Develops the skills for operations and service managers by delivering ITIL, ISO 20000 skills and other operation-related knowledge. The module also provides preparation for the ITIL foundation exam.

Sept-Dec

Principles for sourcing management, including procurement and sourcing frameworks (eSCM) with practical, hands-on application: Vendor Management, Human resources management and skills frameworks (including SFIA). 

     
          

Jan-March

Implement a cost-effective and value-added IT environment and initiatives by applying adequate practices for IT Financials Portfolio and Value Management, and business case development.

Apr-June

Series of workshops for developing various soft skills through learning and exercises (communication, presentation, negotiation, creativity...)

Sept-Dec

 

Master the tools and methods that enable you to assess IT and information security related environments by applying generally accepted Audit planning, fieldwork and reporting techniques, towards delivering facts based opinion. The workshop is focused on a real life case selected by each group of participants

Acceptance Interview

This interview is designed to assess your ability to attend the intended education and to guide you in making the most suitable choices for your current activities and needs. Prepare carefully and make sure any additional queries you may have are answered.

 

Certificate delivered

At the end of your education, you will receive a certificate of Executive Education issued by the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. The certificate is awarded to the participant who:

- Has an overall average of 60% for the whole education and has passed all the exams (above 50%)
- Present his/her close-down assignment (Executive Summary)
Attend at least 70% of the overall lectured programme
