The EMP Master thesis

The EMP Master thesis is a proof of the student’s capacity to conduct independent research on a defined microfinance topic . Through the writing, the oral presentation and discussion in front of the Jury, the student must show his ability and understanding of microfinance issues.

Students are supposed to apply the theoretical concepts and approaches acquired during the studies at the EMP and broaden their knowledge and experience in applying analytical tools and methods.

Link between EMP Master thesis and obligatory internship

EMP students are strongly advised to combine the research topic of their thesis with the obligatory field internship (2-4 months with a Microfinance Institution in a developing country). In the frame of this internship, students usually conduct a research on a specific topic, which has to be presented in the EMP Master thesis.
