Brussels is number 38 among the best cities for student in the world. Paris & London are at the top of this list and several other european cities are featured.

This ranking, established by british organisation Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd (QS), was based on 4 criteria: the size of the student population (both nationals and foreign), life quality, employer's vision of graduates & cost of student life (including tuition fees).

The Royal Academy of Belgium organises a 3-day conference around the title "The ideology of progress in the maelstrom of postmodernism". Alain Eraly, past President of the School and several other ULB faculty member will participate in the debates.

The event will take place on the 9, 10 and 11th of February 2012.

School alumni and affiliated faculty member, Peter Praet has been named Economist in Chief for the European Central Bank.

Praet, a former executive director of the National Bank of Belgium and chief of staff to Belgium's finance minister, has been on the ECB's executive board since June 2011. He takes over from Jürgen Stark who resigned earlier this year.
