“Interuniversity Attraction Poles” (or IAP) aim to increase joint contribution to general scientific advances and to international scientific networks. Through this programme, the Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO) funds some 500 researchers and over 2000 publications.

In April, 5 of our doctoral students were selected to take part in the 2011 Lindau-Nobel meeting, bringing together some 450 promising scholars with 19 Nobel laureates in Economics for 4 days of intense intellectual exchanges.

Georges Bingen, ex-researcher at U.L.B, was named Head of the European Commission representation in the Grand Duchy. Currently heading the people programme unit at the Commission’s education and culture directorate, luxembourger Georges Bingen will take up his new role on September 1st. The 54 year old economist succeeds Ernst Moutschen, who held the post for five years.
