Short bio

 

Manuel Hensmans is a professor of Strategic Management at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, ULB. Before joining Solvay, he was a research fellow at Rotterdam School of Management, Manchester School of Management, London Business School and Strathclyde Business School. Manuel also is a research fellow at the Advanced Institute of Management Research, UK.

Manuel teaches MSc courses in Strategy, International Strategy and Technology Strategy, as well as MBA and Executive courses in Managing Innovation, Biopharma strategy, Retail Strategy and others. He has acted as an executive lecturer at Rotterdam School of Management and an executive tutor at London Business School.

Manuel's most recent research involves a study of strategic renewal processes in UK multinationals. Manuel also studies the relation between innovation and democratization in Dutch and British banking. His papers have been accepted for publication in journals such as Organization Studies, Long Range Planning, MIT Sloan Management Review, and Organization. 

Manuel was found eligible for two post-doctoral fellowship grants from the ESRC, UK (2004-2006, and 2006-2007), and one Marie Curie doctoral fellowship (at Manchester School of Management, 2001).  In addition, his papers on strategic management processes were selected amongst the ten best papers of the management journal Long Range Planning, and the twenty best papers of the Strategic Management Society Conference.
